Free Home Energy Assessment
Summary: Home Energy Assessment
Description
Why Get a Home Energy Assessment?
A free Mass Save Home Energy Assessment (HEA) is one of the most impactful things we can do: it benefits homeowners, tenants, and landlords by letting them know how to make their homes more efficient and more affordable.
Contact Home Works Energy to schedule an appointment. A contractor will perform the assessment, give you free products, explain what else you can do, and tell you about financial help, including discounts of 75% or more, that can make improvements affordable and sometimes even free!
Click the “To Do” button above. Then click the “Steps to Take” tab.
If you’ve had a home energy assessment in the past two years, click the “Done” button above. (If it’s been longer than two years, you’re eligible for a new, free assessment and find out what more can be done.)
When you click “To Do” or “Done”, the impact that you’re having on helping your community will be displayed on the main “Actions” page.
Deep Dive
Why is it no-cost to me? As a utility customer, you have already been paying into this program through your utility bill, so it’s worthwhile to take advantage of it. Thanks to the Green Communities Act of 2008, Massachusetts utilities and energy efficiency service providers that sponsor Mass Save are required by the state to provide energy efficiency programs.
What does a home energy assessment entail? A customized energy report tailored specifically to your home.
Energy-saving products recommended during your assessment delivered to your door at no cost, and for you to install, such as:
- ENERGY STAR® LED light bulbs
- Advanced power strips
- Low-flow showerheads
- Faucet aerators
- Efficient thermostats
Also:
- Significant savings on approved insulation improvements.
- No-cost targeted air sealing.
- Generous rebates on qualifying energy-efficient heating, cooling, and water heating equipment.
- The opportunity to apply for 0% HEAT Loan financing for eligible upgrades.
I had one of these a while ago? Can I have one again? If you have not had your home assessed in the last two years, you can have it done again. It may be time to improve your insulation, or check out technologies like smart thermostats, and the incentives for retrofits may have changed as well.
